ORGANIZATION: MARTIN LUTHER KING JR CENTER FOR NON VIOLENT SOCIAL CHANGE INC

The EmpowHER: Empowering Black Girls to Lead program serves an all-black female cohort (ages 13-18). The program emphasizes character and leadership development, wellness, and career readiness.

We are looking for outgoing and friendly volunteers to help support the graduation event for this year's cohort! Volunteers will support in the roles of greeters, ushers, registration, assistance with transporting items and other program assistant needs.

Main Responsibilities

  • Greet guests with a friendly and enthusiastic attitude as they arrive at the event.
  • Help manage the flow of guests, ensuring orderly entry and exit from the venue.
  • Assist in the registration process, ensuring all attendees are accounted for.
  • Help with set up and breakdown of event,
  • Assist The King Center Staff with other needs during the program.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years old.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Warm, friendly, and approachable demeanor.
  • Ability to engage visitors and volunteers with a friendly and welcoming demeanor.
  • Experience working with youth programs is preferred.

Attire

  • All black, business casual with shoes suitable for walking and standing.

Established in 1968 by Mrs. Coretta Scott King, The Martin Luther King, Jr. Center for Nonviolent Social Change ("The King Center") has been a global destination, resource center and community institution for over a quarter century.The King Center is a 501(c)3. Nearly a million people each year make pilgrimage to the National Historic Site to learn, be inspired and pay their respects to Dr. King’s legacy.

The King Center is repositioning to meet the challenges and opportunities of today. Squarely-focused on serving as both a local and global resource, the King Center is dedicated to educating the world on the life, legacy and teachings of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., inspiring new generations to carry forward his unfinished work, strengthen causes and empower change-makers who are continuing his efforts today.
