Volunteer to engage in lively one-on-one conversations through weekly telephone calls with an aging homebound adult. This provides connection and reassurance for older adults who may be experiencing isolation or who are seeking a "phone friend" to share stories and discuss topics of mutual interest. To be successful as a Social Link Caller you will need to have good interpersonal communication skills, be attuned to issues related to aging, have an upbeat and friendly manner, and be interested in developing a social connection with someone new to you.

Description
Agency on Aging Area 4 (AAA4) serves aging adults (60+), adults with disabilities, and the people who care for them in seven counties: Nevada, Placer, Sacramento, Sierra, Sutter, Yolo, and Yuba. AAA4 oversees in-house programs as well as contracts with about 30 different organizations to provide services for older adults and caregivers in the seven-county region.
