The 1st Annual Atlanta Housing & Resource Fair is a community-driven event aimed at connecting individuals in need with essential housing solutions and support services. Hosted by Group Home Alliance, Inc., Harbor Halo, and the City of Atlanta-,Mayor Andre Dickens, this event will provide on-the-spot assistance with affordable housing, rental and utility assistance, healthcare, job placement, and more.

We are looking for dedicated volunteers to help make this event a success! By volunteering, you’ll be supporting seniors, veterans, low-income individuals, and those at risk of homelessness. This is a fantastic opportunity to give back to the community while helping people connect with the services they need.

Volunteer Roles & Responsibilities:

We need volunteers for a variety of roles, including:

Event Setup and Breakdown:
  • Help set up tables, chairs, signage, and other materials before the event starts.
  • After the event, assist with taking down and packing up equipment.
Greeters and Registration:
  • Welcome attendees, direct them to the registration area, and assist with signing in.
  • Provide information about the event and distribute materials.
Guides and Support Staff:
  • Assist attendees in navigating the fair, guiding them to different service providers and resources.
  • Answer general questions and provide support to ensure attendees have a positive experience.
Activity Support:
  • Help with family-friendly activities, raffle drawings, and giveaways throughout the event.
Vendor and Service Provider Assistance:
  • Offer support to the service providers and vendors by helping them set up and ensuring they have what they need to assist attendees effectively.

In addition to the above, we are also seeking volunteers for key coordination roles:

Event Organizers:
  • Help with planning and logistics leading up to the event.
  • Coordinate with vendors, service providers, and other volunteers to ensure smooth event execution.
Sponsorship Coordinators:
  • Work on securing sponsorships for the event, reaching out to local businesses and organizations.
  • Manage sponsor relations, ensuring they receive proper recognition and support during the event.
Social Media Coordinators:
  • Promote the event on social media platforms leading up to the day of the fair.
  • Engage with the community online, sharing updates, and posting during the event to increase awareness and attendance.

Volunteer Qualifications:

  • Friendly, welcoming attitude and a willingness to assist attendees and vendors.
  • Strong communication and organizational skills, especially for coordination roles.
  • Ability to stand or walk for extended periods (depending on the role).
  • Experience in event planning, sponsorship outreach, or social media management is a plus for specialized roles.

  • Event Date: October 12, 2024
  • Event Time: 10 AM - 2 PM (Volunteers may be needed before and after for setup and breakdown)
  • Location: C.T. Martin Natatorium and Recreation Center, 3201 Martin Luther King Junior Drive Southwest, Atlanta, GA
  • Volunteer Shifts: Multiple shifts will be available, and volunteers can sign up for one or more time slots.
