About SCIENCE CLUB FOR GIRLS INC

Location:

210 Broadway, Suite 201, CAMBRIDGE, MA 02139, US

Mission Statement

Science Club for Girls (SCFG) fosters excitement, confidence, and literacy in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) for girls and gender-expansive youth from underrepresented communities by providing free, experiential programs and by maximizing meaningful interactions with women-in-STEM mentors.

Description

In 1994, two moms in Cambridge, Massachusetts walked into their kids' classroom, recognized a need, mixed passion with hard work, and created a free, fun, hands-on afterschool science program for young girls. Science Club for Girls was born. That initial program has grown, and today, we serve more than 700 girls and gender-expansive youth in grades K-12 through in-person and virtual programs in Greater Boston and surrounding communities. Our programs are fueled by nearly 200 volunteer mentors, providing participants with personal examples of self-confidence and STEM excellence.

At Science Club for Girls, we believe in making a long-term investment in a young person's STEM education. We understand that tackling the systemic causes of diversity gaps in STEM requires dedication, and we're committed to moving the needle toward a more inclusive STEM ecosystem. The impact of this investment is evident in the trajectories of our alumni, and the benefits are shared by all of society.

Science Club for Girls is a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization.
