Mesa Book Festival

This position is part of the Organizing committee for the Mesa Book Festival. Started in 2017, the Mesa Book Festival is a full day celebration of literary arts and reading with an open air event for 70+ authors, speakers and others.

Responsibilities

Develop and implement a volunteer recruitment strategy to attract diverse and qualified volunteers. Create and distribute promotional materials to recruit volunteers through various channels, including social media, local organizations, and community groups.

Design and conduct any necessary training for volunteers, covering roles, responsibilities, and festival operations. - Provide ongoing support and guidance to volunteers before and during the festival.

Develop a detailed volunteer schedule to ensure all festival areas and shifts are covered. - Manage shift assignments and make adjustments as needed based on volunteer availability and festival needs.

Serve as the primary point of contact for volunteers, addressing inquiries and resolving issues that arise during the festival. - Coordinate with festival staff to ensure volunteers are equipped with necessary resources and information.

Oversee volunteer check-in and check-out processes. - Monitor volunteer performance and provide feedback to ensure high standards of service and efficiency.

Maintain accurate records of volunteer hours, roles, and performance. - Provide post-festival reports and feedback on volunteer operations and recommendations for improvements. This position requires attendance at planning meetings prior to the event day.

Previous experience in volunteer management or event coordination is preferred. - Strong organizational and multitasking skills. - Excellent communication and interpersonal skills. - Ability to work effectively with a diverse group of people. - Proficiency with standard office software and scheduling tools. - Availability to work during the festival date and for preparation leading up to the event.

Ability to stand, walk, and work for extended periods.

Since 1994 Anthology has produced literally thousands of literary events, published over 10 years of literary journals and produced countless tremendous moments of excitement and fun.

Anthology traces it's origins to 1990, when an ASU student started self publishing a digest poetry magazine. Since then, Anthology has become one of the largest literary nonprofits in Arizona, serving the greater Phoenix community through literary programs geared towards all ages and interests.
