National Public Lands Day at Shenandoah

Save to Favorites

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

Celebrate National Public Lands Day by volunteering at Shenandoah! Volunteers will work alongside Rangers to help remove debris, weeds, and litter from popular visitor use areas. We will meet at Panorama Parking Area to work from 9:00am to early afternoon. Some volunteers will be asked to drive to a second work location.

Volunteers will be matched with tasks according to their interests and abilities. Tasks will require using tools such as a string trimmer, shovel, herbicide spray, leaf blower, and loppers. Using these tools, we will remove weeds from rock walls, trim vegetation in the vistas, and clear accumulated plant matter from parking area.

Registration is required as space is very limited. Volunteers under 18 years old must be accompanied by a parent or guardian. This project is not recommended for those under 14 years old. Please reach out to Corrina Wendel at corrina_wendel@nps.gov if you are registering multiple volunteers or with any questions. Registration does not guarantee participation. An email with more details will be sent to volunteers in early September. Thank you for your patience!
