Alameda County Library’s Education and Literacy Services’ (ELS) charge is to address educational inequities and disparities. Our community-based program helps people read to learn, speak to everyone they choose to, and write to anyone, using any writing tool. By reaching their personal goals, they can build the lives they want. We invite people who value partnership to join us. We serve the communities of Albany, Castro Valley, Centerville, Dublin, Fremont Main, Newark, Niles, REACH, San Lorenzo, and Union City. We also partner with the Juvenile Justice Center, Camp Sweeney, and Santa Rita Jail. We seek out Learning Partners with open minds, patience, empathy, and flexibility. We look for Learning Partners who understand that learning takes time, learning can be hard, and everyone learns differently. Work with adults twice a week for a total of 3 hours/week for at least 6 months. Meet at a library, online, or a partner site.
