When animal shelters are overwhelmed or natural disasters arise, the Best Friends Animal Society Emergency Response team is there to provide assistance and help save lives. And you can be part of the group that helps make that happen. Best Friends is searching for animal care volunteers from targeted states to join our team. Please note we are only looking for volunteers from TX, FL, SC, NC, GA, AL, MS, AR, TN and CA!
As an emergency response animal care specialist, you will:
- Provide animal care support at shelters dealing with staffing shortages or disease outbreaks
- Support the needs of shelters and animals during a disaster by providing critical supplies or lifesaving transports
- Clean and sanitize animal housing areas, prepare meals, and exercise animals
- Deploy to areas across the country on short notice
- Spend 7+ days on deployment, as needed, at least once per year
- Participate in volunteer engagement trainings and activities throughout the year
If you reside in TX, FL, SC, NC, GA, AL, MS, AR, TN or CA and you're interested, please join us for an informational Zoom session on Saturday, Sept 14 to learn more. Email nationalvolunteers@bestfriends.org to register.
Thank you!
