Do you have free time in Jan-March and are looking for a fun volunteer opportunity in Boulder?
The Boulder International Film Festival is looking for a volunteer Database Administration Trainee for the 2025 Festival Season. This trainee shadows our current database administrator and will take over the Shiftboard database administration duties for 2026 and future seasons. After a short probationary period this training role will be considered Staff for the 2025 Season. Our Staff have some great perks! There is also a modest stipend associated with this training position for BIFF 2025 that will be paid after the Festival concludes. The regular position for BIFF 2026 would include somewhat higher compensation

The time commitment is about 8 hours/week to start. In early January through mid-March 2025 things ramp up, as we register, communicate with, and orient volunteers, and roll out shifts on the database. This phase requires 20 to 30 hours per week and the flexibility to coordinate activities and meetings with other film festival staff.

Please note that you must be available in person for the entire Festival week March 9th-16th and a few other key dates in January and February.

More details:

The ideal candidate has prior experience working with databases and is interested in learning how our Shiftboard software supports the volunteer management function for the festival. The role includes shadowing, assisting and training with the current Database Manager; learning to adjust database settings and troubleshooting technical problems; processing volunteer registrations and helping volunteers with both the system and general volunteer info; learning to create and generate reports for management; assisting with the volunteer benefits distribution process; and assisting the Volunteer Manager as as needed with other tasks.

About Boulder International Film Festival

Location:

1426 Pearl St., BOULDER, CO 80304, US

Mission Statement

The mission of the Colorado Film Society (CFS) is to encourage and celebrate the art of film by creating a dynamic forum for artistic, social and cultural awareness in the community.

Description

The CFS offers four programs throughout the year: (1) the Boulder International Film Festival (BIFF); (2) the CFS Educational Outreach Program; (3) the CFS Community Resource Program; and (4) the CFS Film Series.

BIFF offers audiences an opportunity to see films from all corners of the world and to learn from a diverse group of filmmakers. Since the inaugural festival was presented in 2005, BIFF has developed a reputation as one of the most influential and innovative young film festivals in the U.S.

An extraordinary number of new films have gone on from early screenings at BIFF to significant box-office success and multiple Oscar nominations. The CFS also inspires tomorrow’s film artists through year-round educational outreach programs, including "World Cinema Days" which bring international film, filmmakers, and presentations to local students; through Schmoozers, our networking event which provides a venue for people involved or interested in the film arts and industry to mix and mingle, and through the CFS Community Resource Program, which provides various forms of no-cost support, resources and mentorship to many arts organizations in Boulder County.
