Recruiting Organization: Braille Institute Los Angeles Center

Volunteer(s) needed for the following classes:

• Mondays: 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
• Wednesdays: 1-2 p.m.

Requirements

• Mastering technical skills is not required
• Sensitivity to students' individual variables (e.g. assist students with adaptive exercise or alternative movements set forth by instructor, or having student(s) refrain from participating based on student ability due to impairment, injury, physical ability, surgery, recovery, generalized weakness, etc.,)
• Must preserve students' right to privacy and personal space by requesting students' permission to assist in executing specific movements and tasks
• Must follow instructor's directions as pertains to classroom-student exercise instruction
• Must have instructor's expressed permission to modify exercises, movements, or skills
• Bilingual, Spanish/English (desired but not required)

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe and professional environment, assessing classroom and student surroundings for possible safety concerns
• Assist students in executing exercises performed by instructor
• Communicate issues or concerns with instructor as needed
• Promptly communicate students' individual performance results to instructor for the purpose of retraining or reinforcement applications
