Volunteer Position: Senior Exercise Program Assistant
Program: Healthy Soles: Senior Exercise Program
Location: 115 S Tampa Ave, Orlando Fl, 32805
Time Commitment: Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 8am-9am
Position Overview:
Healthy Soles is a senior exercise program designed to promote physical activity, improve mobility, and enhance the overall well-being of older adults. As a Volunteer Program Assistant, you will play a vital role in supporting the program’s mission by assisting seniors during exercise sessions, ensuring their safety, and helping create a positive and encouraging environment.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist with setting up and breaking down exercise equipment and materials.
- Provide support and encouragement to participants during exercises.
- Monitor participants to ensure proper form and safety.
- Assist with leading warm-up and cool-down exercises under the guidance of the program instructor.
- Help with participant check-in and record attendance.
- Offer assistance to participants with limited mobility or special needs.
- Communicate any concerns or observations about participants to the program instructor.
- Ensure that the exercise space is clean and organized before and after sessions.
Qualifications:
- A genuine interest in working with older adults and promoting their health and well-being.
- Basic knowledge of exercise and fitness, particularly for seniors, is a plus.
- Patience, empathy, and strong interpersonal skills.
- Ability to follow instructions and work as part of a team.
- Reliable, punctual, and committed to the volunteer schedule.
- CPR/First Aid certification is a plus but not required.
