PLEASE NOTE: This is a training session to become a Tree Tender with Keep Indianapolis Beautiful. You must attend this training before attending the in-field training on Friday, September 20th. Previously, KIB held Tree Tender Trainings once a year in the spring, but we are now offering the training in both the spring and fall to ensure all interested individuals have the opportunity to attend and learn about the program. We expect all Tree Tenders to attend one classroom training and one field training every year to renew their title. Dinner and beverages will be provided (if you have any special dietary requirements, please email mmeadowsmcdonnell@kibi.org).

What is a Tree Tender?

Tree Tenders are committed to planting and caring for trees in our community. They help the KIB Community Forestry team plant trees successfully across the city in many ways: by prepping the trees the day-of, pruning trees, and helping guide KIB volunteers through the process of planting a tree. They are an extension of the KIB family, and their support is vital to the success of our plantings and our mission. As a Tree Tender, you'll learn the basics of arboriculture (growing, caring for, and studying trees) from our certified arborists. You'll have a personal investment in KIB's efforts to plant trees across the Indianapolis community to help both people and nature thrive. And, great perks await those who volunteer their service, including pruning gear, KIB swag, and invites to fun social events. You are required to attend this classroom training AND the follow-up in-field training on Friday, September 20th in order to become a Tree Tender, so please register now! If you are unable to attend either of these trainings, please email mmeadowsmcdonnell@kibi.org to discuss alternative options.

Location Information: Parking is available in the KIB parking lot, and street parking is available along Fletcher Ave. PLEASE DO NOT park in the Capture Fitness parking spaces.

Transportation Information: IndyGo Bus #56 stops at Fletcher Ave and Calvary Street, (a 3 minute walk to KIB Headquarters). Click here to plan your trip with IndyGo!
