Spend winter exploring Wind Cave National Park, home to the seventh longest cave in the world. Established in 1903, this unique park located in the beautiful Black Hills of southwest South Dakota consists of 33,000 acres of mixed grass prairie and ponderosa pine ecosystems. Free roaming bison, elk, prairie dogs and other associated wildlife overlie the most complex cave on earth.
This 40-hour per week position works closely with a dedicated team of frontline staff to provide a variety of visitor services including cave tours and supporting educational programs. Selectees gain experience in formal interpretation, educational programming, fee collection, and more. Furnished on-site housing is provided at no cost to the selectee. A stipend of $160/week and a one-time payment of up to $300 to defray travel costs are provided, along with a volunteer uniform. Anticipated entry date is 11/04/2024 through mid-April 2025.
