Prescott Farm is looking for volunteers for its 2024 Annual Harvest Festival.

The Annual Harvest Festival held every year in September is a free entry event for the public. The event has various (free and paid) vendors, activities, crafts, live music, food trucks, and games for everyone to enjoy!

This event is a great opportunity to get more people involved with Prescott Farm and learn about everything we do here.

Prescott Farm is looking for various volunteers for positions:

Directing traffic/parking

  • Wearing a safety vest - direct traffic in parking in the upper parking lot, and out in the field and exiting the parking area

Event Photographer

  • Take photos of the various activities happening at the Harvest Festival

  • Be respectful of guests and mindful of guests who are uncomfortable with their photo being taken

Field Games

  • Play games out in the field and encourage guests to join in with you and play games

  • Games include horse lasso, sack race, 9-square, cornhole

Hay Jump Helper

  • Tell guests when it is safe to jump into the hay, and ensure guests are safe at the activity (geared towards children, but adults may participate as well)

Horse Wagon Ride Helper

  • Help guests get on and off the horse wagon safely

Maple Sugaring Table

  • Sit at the table and answer general questions about the maple sugaring process, tools will be on the table to facilitate sharing about maple sugaring

MC

  • Announce important information throughout the day, announce things as directed by Brett or Asia

Vendor/Non-Profit Liaison

  • Coordinate with Brett to help vendors/Non-Profits set up for the event

Wagon Ride - directing traffic

  • Ensure that the wagon can safely cross the street to get to the field by stopping traffic

Wagon Ride Tractor - driver

  • Ensure the tractor has fuel and safely drive the tractor for guests to enjoy

Wagon Ride - helper

  • Help guests get on and off the wagon safely

Welcome Table - greeter

  • Be a friendly face at the Welcome Table and talk about everything Prescott Farm has to offer

Raffle Tickets/Store - Seller

  • Help sell raffle tickets and merchandise in store

Cider Press

  • Run the cider press station and make cider

Bee Keeping Table

  • Sit at the table and answer general questions about beekeeping, tools will be on the table to facilitate sharing about beekeeping, honey harvesting, and tasting.

Community Connection Programs Table

  • Sit at the table and answer general questions about community connection programs, samples will be on the table to facilitate sharing about programs

Goats and Chickens

  • Watch over Chickens and Goats and make sure they are not fed any food.

Mission Statement

Prescott Farm is dedicated to providing year-round environmental education programs for all ages and a place in the Lakes Region community that encourages curiosity, discovery, fun, and connection to the natural world. Since 1997 we have helped awaken an appreciation for nature and concern for the environment in thousands of program participants with a wide range of programs designed to preserve and pass down knowledge and skills that encourage an understanding of the natural systems that sustain us all and respect for the environment.

Description

Prescott Farm is a designated wildlife viewing area open year-round to the public with over 160 acres of farmland, forests, and pastures including more than 3 miles of woodland, pond, and field trails, gardens, and a Natural PlayScape.

We have 4 main program areas at Prescott Farm

  • Community Connections Programs
    • variety of programs offered for children, adults, and teens
    • Examples include Farm to Table Cooking, Soap-making, and snowshoe yoga
  • Fledglings Nature-Based Preschool
    • state-licensed, nature-based curriculum for children ages 3-5
  • WildQuest Vacation Camps
    • state-licensed day camps for children ages 6-12 in February-April
    • topics range from wilderness survival, myths, and nature artists
  • Naturalist in the Classroom
    • our educators spend over 250 hours each school year working directly with students and teachers in local schools to facilitate place-based learning
