About MITA

Location:

Yopougon Ananeraie Dabou Road, Abidjan, Lagunes 20, CI

Mission Statement

MITA empowers smallholder farmers in remote areas in Ivory Coast to establish sustainable livelihoods, find their way out of extreme poverty and catalyze change in their rural communities. We envision a future in which every smallholder family has the knowledge and means to achieve big harvests, support healthy families and prosper with dignity. To achieve our mission, we rely on the following core values: Humility, Confidentiality, Hard work, Leadership, Continuous Improvement and Integrity.

Description

Ivory Coast is home to over 3 million smallholder farmers who are important in the fight against hunger and poverty in the country. While the government has provided resources to catalyze agricultural productivity, smallholder farmers continue to face barriers - lack of access to modern agricultural knowledge, high-quality inputs and reliable markets - which affect their profitability and production capacities.

MITA was founded in 2020 and is a grassroots movement of people, stories and actions to help alleviate extreme poverty in Ivory Coast in particular and in West Africa more generally. Since 2020, MITA has helped more than 3,000 smallholder farmers break free from the vicious cycle of extreme poverty. We’re closely alongside farmers in the central and northern regions of Ivory Coast to empower them for prosperity and dignity.
