Achievement Plus Family Centers are the heart of the school community. They provide needed resources (e.g. food, clothing, computer access) and support referrals (county services, housing, etc.) to other trusted community service providers.

As a volunteer, you will help our space be welcoming for visitors and increase access to the center. Volunteer Greeters will welcome and host Family Center visitors and assist them with finding items and offer handouts for other community service providers. During downtime, you will organize and restock items.

• Learn more about available community services and the rich culture of the East Side and North End of St Paul.Connect with East Side/North End families and school communities and have a meaningful impact in the lives of families.
• Learn more about the inner workings of an SPPS elementary school.

Schedule and Location:

• Day of the week: Flexible with Thursday or Friday options on an ongoing basis for fall semester
• Time of the day: Choose a 3 hour shift from 7:30am - 2pm, such as 12:00-3:00pm
• Site: Saint Paul Music Academy, 27 Geranium Ave W, St Paul, MN 55117

Qualifications:

• Be 18 years of age or older.
• Ability to interact with and assist families and youth of varying backgrounds, cultures and identities, including race, ethnicity, class, orientation, ability, age, gender, gender expression, religion, etc.
• Helpful if volunteer can speak Karen, Hmong, or Spanish (not required).
• Complete a background check (Wilder covers the cost).
• Able to self-direct in interactions with families.
• Helpful demeanor and strong customer service.
• Highly respectful of confidentiality.
• Dependable and committed to a consistent schedule.
