Are you interested in supporting our Lewis House domestic and sexual violence shelter in Eagan? our Food Rescue Position is a great way for people to get involved in the work that the Lewis House does. Volunteers in this position would use their vehicle to transport donated items from the Eagan Target to our Eagan Lewis House. This is a great way to support the community and meet great people!
Summary
This position is responsible for picking up donations at a local retail grocer in Eagan and bring back to the site location to unload, weigh, and put away in the appropriate temperature zones. This position does not work directly with victims/survivors, but may have minimal contact with shelter residents. does positively impact the families living in shelter. Training will be provided prior to volunteering.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Demonstrate commitment to the agency’s mission statement and core values at all times. The mission statement is: "360 Communities delivers safety and stability that improves lives."
- You will need to use your own vehicle and gas, plus carry insurance on your vehicle.
- Be at pick up site on your scheduled day to pick up the donated food and immediately bring it back to the 360 Communities Eagan Lewis House to unload, weigh and put away in the appropriate temperature zone.
- Must be able to lift up to about 40 pounds.
- Time commitment may vary from week to week depending on the quantity of food the retailer is providing us. The average time commitment is 1- 2 hours per week on a certain morning.
- Maintain confidentiality, boundaries and professional ethics
Qualifications
- Ability to pass a background check
- Ability to transport donated items/reliable transportation
- Availability to commit to one shift per week, and a six-month minimum total commitment.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds
- Ability to work independently
- Problem solving
Work Environment and Physical Demands
- Shelter environment with high noise level
- Retail environment to pick up rescue food
- Regularly required to walk, stand, sit, bend and lift up to 40 pounds.
