Point Foundation, the nation's largest provider of scholarships, mentorships, and leadership training to LGBTQ students seeking postsecondary education is seeking to expand its Board of Trustees.
Point's Board of Trustees is a national volunteer board, established to raise funding for and awareness of Point’s mission to empower LGBTQ postsecondary students. The Board of Trustees engages leaders across various professions and interests to play a vital role in bringing about impactful support of Point in conjunction with the goals and initiatives of both the organization and the Board of Directors. Membership offers volunteer opportunities for committed individuals who share an affinity with Point’s mission and the LGBTQ community.
STATEMENT OF RESPONSIBILITIES
Trustees are expected to serve Point Foundation and agree to the following Time, Financial, Programmatic, Board Support, and Ambassadorial Commitments:
Time Commitments:
· Commit to a two-year term of service; an additional two-year term is possible
· Attend and participate four quarterly Board of Trustee's Meetings
Financial Commitments:
· Provide for the fiscal health of Point through the following:
o Each member is expected to personally give or get $5,000, per fiscal year (July - June); progress toward this commitment will be shared quarterly
o Provide prospective donor contact names, each fiscal year (July - June)
o Serve as a liaison with your employer and/or corporate connections to secure support for Point
Programmatic Commitments:
· Raise awareness for Point Programs by:
o Sharing application window announcements
o Connecting with contacts at respective alma maters
o Read and review a minimum of 20 applications per year
o Assist with identifying candidates for mentoring, coaching, and reading/scoring applications
Board of Director Support Commitments:
· Sit on one of the following Board of Director Committees:
o Audit Committee
o Development & Marketing Committee
o Diversity, Equity, & Inclusion Committee
o Finance & Technology Committee
o Program Committee
o Selections Subcommittee
Ambassadorial Support Commitments:
· Follow @PointFoundation and repost messaging
· Add your Board of Trustee role to LinkedIn
· Attend Point events and activities
· Serve as a Host Committee member for either LA Graduation (Spring) or NYC Homecoming (Fall)
· Identify / introduce prospective trustee members
· In December, conduct "Thank You" outreach to a minimum of ten (10) donors, thanking them for their previous support and asking them to consider Point in their year-end giving
· Refer media inquiries to Point Marketing & Communications

As an LGBTQ foundation, we empower promising lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender, and queer students to achieve their full academic and leadership potential - despite the obstacles often put before them - so they can better make a significant impact on society.
Description
We provide financial support, a community of peers, leadership training, and mentorship, to US college students from around the world. Point also generates research to document the challenges LGBTQ students face on US campuses so that we can provide data and resources to help mitigate these issues.
Our scholars and work improve the equity and representation of LGBTQ people in nearly every industry, ensuring that LGBTQ people have a voice and are provided equal access and opportunity in every sector.
