Join the Merrimack Valley Project (MVP) for a powerful weekend of action to Get Out the Vote! We’re mobilizing our community to ensure every voice is heard in this election, and we need your help. Whether you're experienced or new to civic engagement, there’s a opportunity for you.
Volunteer Activities:
- Door Knocking/Canvassing: Engage with community members face-to-face, share important voting information, and encourage them to get to the polls.
- Phone & Text Banking: Connect with voters from the comfort of our office or your home, providing them with reminders to cast their ballots.
- Tabling: Help staff information booths at key community locations, distributing materials, and more.

- Dates: Friday, August 30, 2024 - Tuesday, September 3, 2024
- Location: Various neighborhoods across the Merrimack Valley region, including Haverhill and Lawrence.
- Time Commitment: When you are able - flexible shifts available throughout the weekend!

TO UNITE RELIGIOUS, LABOR, AND COMMUNITY ORGANIZATIONS IN CAMPAIGNS TO EXPAND ECONOMIC OPPORTUNITIES AND GOOD JOBS, SAVE AND CREATE AFFORDABLE HOUSING, AND TO ADDRESS OTHER ISSUES RELATED TO THE WELFARE OF THE MERRIMACK VALLEY REGION; AND THROUGH THESE CAMPAIGNS TO DEVELOP THE LEADERSHIP SKILLS OF VALLEY RESIDENTS, PARTICULARLY THOSE UNDERREPRESENTED IN PUBLIC LIFE.

DURING THIS TIME, MVP HAS: IMMIGRANT JUSTICE: IN THE WAKE OF THE 2018 GAS EXPLOSIONS, MVP HAS COLLABORATED WITH REGIONAL ALLIES THE NORTHEAST JUSTICE CENTER AND THE MASSACHUSETTS IMMIGRANT REFUGEE ADVOCACY COALITION TO HOLD 2 SEPARATE TRAININGS FOR NEW IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES TO PROVIDE THEM WITH RESOURCES AS THEY GET ADJUSTED TO LIFE IN THE UNITED STATES. IN ADDITION, MVP IS PART TWO STATEWIDE COALITIONS IN SUPPORT OF BOTH THE WORK AND FAMILY MOBILITY ACT AND AND SAFE COMMUNITIES ACT, WHICH WOULD PUT IN PLACE SOME MUCH-NEEDED PROTECTIONS FOR OUR STATE'S IMMIGRANT COMMUNITIES. ECONOMIC JUSTICE: AS PART OF THE RAISE UP MA COALITION, MVP HAS BEEN WORKING TO ADVANCE THE FAIRSHARE AMENDMENT THAT WOULD HELP PROVIDE $1 BILLION TO BE USED FOR TRANSPORTATION AND EDUCATION FUNDING IN THE STATE. CRIMINAL JUSTICE: MVP HAS BEEN ABLE TO BUILD A POWERFUL COALITION OF FAITH, BUSINESS, COMMUNITY, AND ELECTED LEADERS TO ADVOCATE FOR A PILOT TRANSPORTATION PROGRAM THAT WAS PASSED AS A BUDGET AMENDMENT IN LATE JULY. MVP WILL BE WORKING WITH THE MASSACHUSETTS HELPLINE AND TWO UMASS LOWELL PROFESSORS TO IMPLEMENT THE PROGRAM AND ANALYZE DATA TO THEN ADVOCATE THAT THE PROGRAM EXPAND STATEWIDE IN JUNE OF 2020.
