Reading Connections helps adult students in basic reading, writing and math, enabling them to increase their literacy skills and more fully recognize their potential as individuals, employees, and citizens. We are creating posts for social media based on individual student, volunteer, and stakeholder stories. We are looking for two social media interns to help interview and draft stories for Instagram, Facebook, and other social media platforms alongside the team of social media volunteers.
Responsibilities
Social Media Interns will support the Marketing Manager with collecting stories students, volunteers, and other various stakeholders. Marketing outreach efforts and other tasks not limited to growing the prescens on various online platforms in the community at events. draft posts, and then send to the lead social media intern for review.
- Work with the Marketing Manager on specific tasks and goals related to the internship.
- Supports social media volunteers with projects and tasks to grow social media and community presence.
- Schedule 1:1 interviews outside of class time with students/volunteers, and then create stories with pictures (use pics if the person(s) are comfortable - otherwise create in Canva).
- Identify good candidates to either coach toward creating their own selfie video and/or record an interview on Zoom.
- Attend meetings with fellow team members.
- Keep a digital portfolio of your work.
Qualifications
- Mastery of the major social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram, and others
- Impeccable oral and written communication skills
- Ideal for Communications, Public Relations/Marketing, Digital Media, Graphic Design, Business, or a related major
- Service-minded
- Knowledge of video creating/editing, Canva, graphic editing, etc.
- Experience with content management systems and other software
- At least 18 years old
- Have a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Active experience on social media is preferred, with a minimum of 1 year experience with social media
Time Commitment
- 5-10 hours per week, hours can be completed towards course/program credits
- Hybrid opportunity with flexiability working in our Greensboro/High Point offices.
