Description
Latched Support is a 501c3 Nonprofit that empowers growing families with life-saving prenatal and parenting education through resources and advocacy so that children may receive a healthy start in life. Latched Support’s vision is to eradicate infant and maternal morbidity amongst all families regardless of race or economic status.San Antonio continues to have one of the highest infant and maternal mortality rates in the nation (6.2 per 1,000 live births). Also, despite a growing population, Black and Latinx mothers and infants continue to experience higher rates of infant mortality, preterm birth, low birth weight, pregnancy depression, postpartum depression, as well as severe maternal mortality and morbidity than other racial groups, according to the Texas Health and Human Services. As Co-Founders, Executive Directors, Registered Nurses, IBCLC Lactation Consultants, and health professionals with a combined 20 years of experience, Ashley and Veronica have dedicated their professional lives to the advocacy and equitable care of mothers and babies in San Antonio and surrounding areas.Latched Support is a beacon of hope amidst food desserts, economic insecurities, inadequate access to prenatal care, insurance, lactation support, and parenting education all impact the health and wellbeing of mothers and babies in our community. Because of their work and their mission, Latched Support has positively impacted over 2,500 mothers annually for the last five years.
