Denver Rescue Mission has Change Maker Volunteer positions available to support programming in the Youth Center at The Crossing. Please go to our website denverrescuemission.org/volunteer to apply for any of the needed volunteer roles listed below. Please note your role preference in your application. All volunteers must be 18 years or older.

1) Youth Room Buddy - General: Spend 30 minutes hanging out with our children, mentoring and building relationships with them. Then spend 45 to 60 minutes supporting their academic, emotional and psychological development via tutoring or structured games/activities (depending on the day). One day a week on Monday, Wednesday, or Thursday 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.

2) Youth Room Buddy - Free Friday: Hang out with our children (ages 5-11), as they get excited for the weekend! Fridays are free days where we play and open up our incentive store for kids to "shop" using their character coins they earn throughout the week. Friday 4:30 to 6:00 p.m.

3) Youth Room Buddy - Workshop Support: Support our Tuesday Youth Center programs! Afternoon programs, 4:30 to 6:00 p.m., include nutrition workshops, library trips, volunteer days, and financial education courses. Evening programs 6:00 to 7:30 p.m. or 6:30 to 8:00 p.m. include Family Conferences and Youth Development Workshops.

4) Youth Room "Littles" Bible Study Buddy: Support our weekly kids Bible studies, working with children ages five to 11. This typically consists of singing songs, reading scripture from the Beginners Bible and watching a short show that contextualizes the scripture in a kid-friendly, understandable way. Monday night from 6:30 to 8:00 p.m.

About Denver Rescue Mission

Location:

6090 Smith Rd, Denver, CO 80216, US

Mission Statement

Denver Rescue Mission is changing lives in the name of Christ by meeting people at their physical and spiritual points of need with the goal of returning them to society as productive self-sufficient citizens.

Description

Founded in 1892, Denver Rescue Mission is the oldest full-service Christian charity serving the poor and needy in the Rocky Mountain region.

Lawrence Street Shelter is our most recognizable location because of the neon "Jesus Saves" sign on the corner of the building. Services at this location include shelter (up to 315 men nightly), medical services and relational and emotional support for those experiencing homelessness.

The Crossing provides a long-term New Life Program location for men; the STAR Transitional Program for homeless families and single men and women with children; and temporary housing for New Life Program graduates, interns and visitors.

48th Avenue Center, in partnership with the City of Denver, the Mission operates this shelter location throughout the year. Along with nightly beds for men, this location operates 24/7, offering three meals a day, restrooms, and access to various support services.
