Mission Statement
HUES Women's Health Advocacy Institute is a 501(c)(3) organization committed to fostering health equity. Our mission revolves around increasing access to quality and inclusive care for Black, Indigenous and/Native, Latina and/or Hispanic, Asian American, Pacific Islander, and Middle Eastern women. Through education, dialogue, resources, and research, they strive to empower women of color in their health and wellness journey.
Description
Nicole April Carter, MPH, PhD started HUES in July 2022 after navigating three autoimmune diseases (Crohn’s Disease, Lupus, and Scleroderma) since 2016, and attempting to navigate health systems that lack resources and the understanding of what women of color need specifically. The organization supports women of color as they navigate the systems that are supposed to care in the Greater Dayton area.
We believe that HUES Women's Health Advocacy Institute stands as a beacon of hope, resilience, and empowerment, championing the health and well-being of women of color across the spectrum of hues. We do this through four strategic areas:
- Community and Conversation
- Access and Advocacy
- Resources and Research
- Educational Awareness
We envision a community that confronts and dismantles both interpersonal and systemic barriers faced by women of color while navigating health and wellness systems.
