Organization Overview:

Friends of the Community Learning Center (CLC) is a non-profit organization committed to supporting the Community Learning Center in Cambridge. Our mission is to raise funds and awareness to ensure the CLC continues offering free educational programs to adults, helping them improve their English literacy, gain high school credentials, become U.S. citizens, and prepare for college and careers.

Position Summary:

We are seeking a creative and organized Event Planner to lead our event-based fundraising initiatives. As an Event Planner, you will be responsible for designing, planning, and executing events that generate funds and engage the community in support of adult education and immigrant services. We are looking for someone with a passion for event planning and a desire to make a meaningful impact in our community.

Specifically, this role will take on the leadership role in ideating, planning our annual fundraiser -- a year end event celebrating the successes of our students and raising funds for future years.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design, plan, and execute a variety of fundraising events, such as galas, community gatherings, or virtual events.
  • Develop event concepts that align with our mission and engage donors, sponsors, and community members.
  • Coordinate all logistical aspects of events, including venue selection, catering, entertainment, and volunteer management.
  • Collaborate with the board and fundraising team to ensure events meet financial goals.
  • Cultivate relationships with vendors, sponsors, and partners to enhance event success.
  • Provide post-event analysis and recommendations for future events.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience in event planning, preferably with a focus on fundraising or non-profit events.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills.
  • Creative mindset with the ability to design engaging and mission-aligned events.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Passion for adult education and community support.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative team.
