Each year, more than 58,000 tons of material from live events gets landfilled throughout the United States. On average, at least 1/3 of that material could be recycled. The 2024 Solheim Cup held at Robert Trent Jones Golf Club in Gainesville is striving to increase their waste diversion efforts throughout tournament week.

Volunteer opportunities for this event are available for each day of the tournament. All interested participants may sign up for the first or second shift on any day.

  • 1st: 10:00am - 2:00pm
  • 2nd: 2:00pm - 6:00pm

Responsibilities may include:

  • Monitoring waste bin capacity
  • Educating spectators on the correct way to sort their waste (i.e. recycling, composting, trash, etc.)
  • Emptying bins as necessary and collecting materials in designated areas

Age:

All volunteers must be at least 18 years of age.

Attire:

Please note that the organizers require volunteers to dress appropriately. Golf shirts, Khaki slacks, skirts, or knee-length shorts and comfortable, closed-toe shoes will work. All volunteers will be given a t-shirt for the event.
