To support this mission and to aid the activities of our America's regional office in Mexico City, we are looking for applications from candidates who have a strong knowledge and interest of human rights issues in Haiti on a voluntary basis.
THE ROLE
This position will support the Crisis Coordinator and the Caribbean team in daily press coverage, research, drafting official correspondence, communications and administrative work as well as any other tasks related to Amnesty International's work on the crisis in Haiti.

We are looking for a highly qualified and committed candidate who is available on a part-time or full-time basis for an ideal period of 6 months. Please note that this position is unpaid and does not lead directly to employment with Amnesty International.
The selected candidate's task list may include the following:
- Press monitoring. Monitor human rights issues and developments within the international and local media regarding Haiti on a day-to-day basis. Select and archive messages in databases and e-mail a news summary to team members.
- Research support. Compile and systematize information on human rights in Haiti from a variety of sources. This could involve searching for information online or talking to authorities or NGOs, such as, supporting the development of research tools.
- Support in campaigns. Support in the organization of events, meetings and drafting of communications for advocacy, mobilization and social media content.
- Administrative support. Arrange meetings with authorities or external partners, send correspondence by post or electronically and maintain contacts databases and other relevant team databases. Assist with travel logistics and other administrative tasks as required.
Experience required:
- Interest in and/or knowledge of human rights issues in Haiti.
- Excellent written and spoken English and Spanish. Knowledge of French and/or Creole would be an advantage.
- Strong ability to gather, analyse and synthesize information.
- Bachelor's degree in law, international relations, political science, social sciences, history, anthropology or a related field.
- Previous experience working on issues of armed conflict and/or social crisis and/or human rights violations against children will be valued.
