To celebrate International Day of Peace, we are seeking a volunteers to design and lead special activities for our international guests staying at Hostelling International NYC. The International Day of Peace (September 21), established by the United Nations, is a global call to action for peace and harmony.

This year's theme, "Cultivating a Culture of Peace," commemorates the 25th anniversary of the United Nations General Assembly’s adoption of the Declaration and Programme of Action on a Culture of Peace. This important milestone emphasizes that peace is not just about the absence of conflict but involves a proactive and inclusive approach to dialogue and mutual understanding.

Given today’s global challenges and ongoing conflicts, it is vital to reflect on the principles established in 1999 by the UN General Assembly. These include respect for human rights, the promotion of non-violence through education and dialogue, and commitment to peaceful conflict resolution. These values are crucial for fostering a culture of peace that extends through education and community efforts.

At our hostel, we strive to promote cultural exchange and understanding among our guests from around the world. We believe that this day presents a unique opportunity to foster meaningful interactions and reflections on the importance of peace and unity.

We invite you to bring your creatvity and skills to help us create an experience that not only engages our guests but also highlights the significance of this global observance. Your contribution will play a vital role in bringing people together and enhancing their stay with us.
