Please visit the new page to apply.
The Santa Cruz SPCA is actively recruiting for new board members!
If you're an animal lover, have a community service gene, can claim leadership skills --we'd love to hear from you!
At the Santa Cruz SPCA's new shelter and in the wider community, staff and board members work together to achieve our mission:
"Provide safe harbor for animals in need and promote an active humane community through adoption, advocacy, and education."
Board membership means you are part of the team that finds loving homes for hundreds of animals, runs a thriving pet food pantry that keeps pets with their loving companions, offers youth education programs to encourage a kind and humane future; and provides a Senior Pets for Senior People wellness and adoption initiative.
As a Santa Cruz SPCA Board member you would:
Provide governance and help define the direction of our organization.
Work with the Executive Director to set the organization's strategic goals and plans to achieve our vision.
Ensure accountability and compliance with legal and financial requirements.
Create and develop relationships with supporters by sharing our mission.
Protect the organization's reputation, community standing, and enhance the impact we have on needy animals.
You should be willing to spend 8-12 hours per month on board duties. These include prepping for and attending board and committee meetings, where you will take an active part in discussions, decision-making, and other committee work. Additionally, you will attend community and donor events and act as an advocate for the organization.
