Entrance Ambassador 2024-25

ORGANIZATION: National Park Service

 Help us give a warm welcome to visitors at the busy entrance to Joshua Tree National Park!


Entrance ambassadors will assist fee rangers at the entrance by checking park passes, answering visitor questions, and assisting staff in efficiently processing visitor vehicles. Volunteers will also be expected to collect park fees and issue passes upon completion of a federal background check. This position requires long periods of standing and directing traffic. Volunteer will work both inside and outside of the entrance booth.


Volunteer may also assist staff inside the park by providing traffic management and visitor assistance at parking lots, trailheads, and campgrounds as appropriate. Volunteer is required to wear the provided uniform when on duty.


Applicants must currently live within 60 minutes commuting distance to Joshua Tree National Park - no housing or camping is available.


Applicants must be available for at least one of the following weekly shifts October 2024 through April 2025:

Friday 8am - 1pm

Friday 1pm - 6pm

Saturday 8am - 1pm

Saturday 1pm - 6pm

Sunday 8am - 1pm

Sunday 1pm - 6pm


Applicants must be available to volunteer on holidays that fall on their scheduled shift day. A volunteer's position may be extended at the discretion of the volunteer and their supervisor.
