Overview:

As a Grant Writer Volunteer, you will play a vital role in securing funding for the organization by researching grant opportunities, writing compelling proposals, and assisting in the management of the grant application process. Your work will directly support the organization's mission and help sustain and grow its programs.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Grant Research: Identify and research potential grant opportunities from foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources that align with the organization’s mission and programs.
  • Proposal Writing: Draft, revise, and finalize grant proposals, including narrative descriptions, budgets, and supporting documentation, ensuring that each proposal meets the specific requirements of the funding source.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the organization’s staff to gather relevant information, such as program details, outcomes, budgets, and any necessary data to support grant proposals.
  • Grant Management: Assist in tracking grant submissions, deadlines, and reporting requirements, ensuring timely and accurate submission of proposals and reports.
  • Documentation: Maintain organized records of all grant applications, correspondences, and outcomes for future reference and reporting.
  • Donor Communication: Assist in writing thank-you letters, updates, and reports to grant funders, highlighting the impact of their contributions.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay informed about trends and best practices in grant writing and fundraising to improve the effectiveness of proposals and increase the chances of securing funding.
Skills Required:
  • Excellent writing, editing, and communication skills.
  • Strong research skills, with the ability to identify and analyze potential funding sources.
  • Attention to detail and ability to follow complex guidelines and requirements.
  • Proficiency in organizing and managing multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
  • Knowledge of nonprofit organizations, fundraising, or grant writing is a plus but not required.
  • Passion for the organization’s mission and commitment to supporting its growth.
Time Commitment:
  • Typically requires a few hours per week, with flexibility depending on the number of grant opportunities and deadlines.

Our goals and services:

Organize a community service event, such as a volunteer day at a local food bank, homeless shelter, or nursing home. The event can provide an opportunity for social workers to connect with community members they may not normally interact with and build relationships with other organizations.

Organize a networking event for social workers in the community. This can be an opportunity for social workers to share their experiences, ideas, and collaborate for the betterment of the community.

Host a professional development workshop for social workers. The workshop can focus on topics such as best practices in case management, legal and ethical issues, and professional boundaries.

Plan a fundraiser for a local non-profit working towards enhancing the well-being of the community. The event can create awareness of organizations, gain financial support, and bring together the community.
