Organization Overview:

I Will Survive, Inc. is a nonprofit organization committed to providing economic support, health and wellness education, and resources to families affected by breast cancer. We are driven by our mission to support survivors and their loved ones as they navigate challenging times, and we are looking for skilled volunteers to help us strengthen our impact.

Position Overview:

The Grant Management and Research Volunteer will play a crucial role in identifying, applying for, and managing grants that are essential to funding our programs and operations. This is a fantastic opportunity for an individual with a background in research, grant writing, or nonprofit management who is passionate about supporting a cause that makes a difference in the lives of breast cancer survivors and their families.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Research and identify grant opportunities from foundations, corporations, and government sources that align with our mission and programs.
  • Assist in drafting and preparing compelling grant proposals and applications.
  • Track application deadlines and manage a calendar of grant submissions and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate with the Executive Director and Fund Development Committee to gather necessary information and documents for applications.
  • Monitor and report on the progress of submitted grant proposals.
  • Maintain a detailed record of grants applied for, awarded, and those pending decision.
  • Assist in preparing reports for funders to meet post-award compliance and reporting requirements.
Qualifications:
  • Strong research skills with experience in identifying and vetting funding opportunities.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Familiarity with grant writing and the nonprofit funding landscape is highly preferred.
  • Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and meet deadlines.
  • Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills.
  • Passionate about I Will Survive, Inc.'s mission and committed to advancing our goals.

Description

Founded in 2010, I Will Survive, Inc. helps with ways to decrease risks for breast cancer by health and wellness. What you eat, how you work out, how you love yourself, limit stress, not smoking, breastfeeding, and even more - all make a difference in your life. We promote fitness on a physical, mental, and spiritual level.

Our events/fundraisers are focused on education and charitable gifts. Knowledge is power. Ethnic women, specifically African Americans are the highest mortality rates from breast cancer and 1 in 8 women will be affected by breast cancer in her lifetime according to CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), 1 in 833 for men. Yes, men get breast cancer too.
