Are you passionate about sharing your creativity? Join the Sharing Network as an art teacher and help bring joy, creativity, and connection to older Black women in Brooklyn who are homebound and often isolated.
About Us:
The Sharing Network alleviates loneliness among lower-income, homebound people who don't use the internet. We offer various groups and activities that promote social connectivity by phone, helping participants become part of a friendly community. Our participants are mostly Black women in their 60s-80s who would benefit from your skilled artistic guidance.
Your Role:
As a volunteer art teacher, you’ll lead a small group of seniors in weekly arts and crafts sessions, guiding them in various creative activities. These sessions are conducted over the phone (audio only), making it easy for participants to participate from their homes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a weekly arts and crafts group for one hour during work hours (Monday to Friday).
- Teach one or more of various art forms, such as drawing, painting, sculpture, needlecraft, ceramics, candlemaking, or any other skills you can offer.
- Provide clear, step-by-step instructions that are easy to follow over the phone.
- Create a supportive and encouraging environment where participants can express their creativity and connect with others.
Requirements:
- Experience in teaching or practicing one or more art forms listed above (or similar).
- Ability to communicate effectively, especially when giving instructions over the phone.
- A passion for helping others and a patient, empathetic attitude.
- Availability to commit to a one-hour weekly session during work hours and to prepare lesson plans.

The leading institutions will confer on an executive organization-wide authority to promote the goals.
