Are you serious about making an impact in the world? Join the Sharing Network as a volunteer English teacher and bring joy and connection to older Spanish-speaking immigrants in Brooklyn who are homebound and often isolated.
About Us:
The Sharing Network alleviates social isolation and loneliness among lower-income, homebound seniors living in Brooklyn. We present groups and activities that promote social connectivity, helping participants make friends and become part of a supportive community.
Your Role:
As a volunteer English teacher, you’ll lead a small group of Spanish-speaking seniors in a weekly one-hour session, helping them improve their English skills while fostering a sense of belonging and community. All sessions are conducted over the phone (audio only) to ensure accessibility for seniors.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead a weekly English conversation group for one hour during work hours.
- Provide a friendly space where participants can practice English and connect with others.
- Encourage social interaction and help participants feel more confident in their language skills.
Requirements:
- Experience as an ESL teacher or equivalent experience in teaching English to non-native speakers.
- Fluent in English, with the ability to communicate clearly and effectively.
- Proficient in Spanish to facilitate communication and support learners at various levels.
- A passion for helping others and a patient, empathetic attitude.
- Availability to commit to a one-hour weekly session during work hours.

The leading institutions will confer on an executive organization-wide authority to promote the goals.
