Are you passionate about the fight against Alzheimer’s? Join The Longest Day volunteer committee and help shape the movement to end this disease!

The Longest Day is inspired by the day with the most light - the summer solstice. Participants outshine the darkness of Alzheimer's and dementia year-round by turning their hobbies into fundraisers. They use their creativity and passion to raise funds and awareness for the care, support, and research efforts of the Alzheimer's Association.

Committee members are the heart of The Longest Day! Some members focus on growing the event by recruiting teams and building community awareness, while others coach current participants and help plan their fundraisers. There's a role for everyone!

Committee Member Roles

• Serve as a volunteer leader for The Longest Day.
• Start a fundraising team and raise $1,600 to become a Solstice Champion!
• Recruit your friends to join the committee!
• Attend monthly committee meetings (virtual option).
• Meet with your staff partner to choose one of the following ways you would like to serve the committee:

Community Outreach Team

• Helping implement ways to build community awareness about The Longest Day and our mission.
• Recruiting businesses from the community and participants from activity groups, clubs, and organizations.
• Making personal contact with potential and past participants to encourage early registration.
• Delivering promotional materials to local businesses and community hubs.
• Representing The Longest Day at community events.

Participant Engagement Team

• Executing the engagement plan to welcome, thank, and touch base with participants.
• Coaching participants to help them reach fundraising goals.
• Leading efforts to recognize participants when they hit fundraising milestones.
• Representing The Longest Day at participant fundraising events.
• Helping plan the end-of-season celebration party.
