Volunteer Guitar Instructors needed for Guitars Not Guns - 9-10 through 10-29

ORGANIZATION: Guitars Not Guns

ATTN. SONOMA COUNTY GUITARISTS: Are you interested in becoming a volunteer Guitar Instructor for the nonprofit Guitars Not Guns? We help protect at-risk childrens' lives through the joy of music! We need 2 more volunteer guitar instructors at the Petaluma Community Center for eight consecutive weeks, each Tuesday, from September 10th through Tue Oct. 29th. Very bsaic instruction; we are primarily teaching first-time guitar players the open chords and a few simple songs.

The new Sonoma Chapter of Guitars Not Guns operates closely with the Marin and Contra Costa chapter to help deliver on the mission of this international nonprofit which has been around for over 24 years. We provide free guitar lessons and free instruments to at-risk youth in a classroom setting of up to 20-25 students, as a healthy alternative to drugs and violence, and to help them build self-confidence.

As a volunteer guitar instructor, you will help teach classes of up to approximately 20-25 kids along with 4-5 other instructors to help tune guitars, guide the kids on fingering their chords and getting a nice tone out of their instruments, and provide extra assistance to those kids needing extra attention. You don't need to attend every single class, as we have a pool of instructors. Even if you can only make a partial commitment, I encourage you to step forward because I can pick up the slack as we build momentum.
