The Urban League of Essex County (ULEC) is dedicated to improving the lives of disadvantaged residents throughout Essex County, New Jersey. Our mission has been to help African Americans and disadvantaged residents achieve economic and social advancement. We offer relevant programs and services in education, employment, housing, and economic development that empower communities and change lives.

What You Will Do

As the AmeriCorps Associate Project Manager, you will perform due diligence on properties being proposed for development, perform field surveys, assist with the preparation of proposals, provide information to the City and State agencies on parcels to be developed, research and assist with acquisition of parcels for development, engage residents in new housing development planning, support the development and preservation of housing in Fairmount Heights, and participate in training sessions to advance personal skill sets.

What Your Work Environment Will Be

An 11-month position where you will typically serve 40 hours a week, normally Monday through Friday, 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., with occasional evenings and weekends. You will report in person at our office and will be required to travel locally for meetings and community events.
