The Volunteer Mentor at Freedom City will play a crucial role in the personal and academic development of students. Mentors will provide guidance, support, and encouragement, helping students build confidence, set goals, and explore future opportunities. This role is designed to create positive and lasting relationships that inspire students to reach their full potential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Build strong, trusting relationships with students, serving as a positive role model and source of support.
- Meet regularly with assigned students to discuss their academic progress, personal goals, and any challenges they may face.
- Encourage students to explore their interests, set achievable goals, and develop a growth mindset.
- Assist with homework, study skills, and time management, providing guidance to help students succeed academically.
- Plan and participate in activities that expose students to new experiences, such as career exploration, cultural events, or community service.
- Communicate regularly with the Program Coordinator to discuss student progress, share insights, and address any concerns.
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and inclusive environment, respecting the diverse backgrounds and experiences of all students.
Qualifications:
- Passion for mentoring and supporting youth development, especially in underserved communities.
- Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to connect with students and build trust.
- Patience, empathy, and a positive attitude.
- Previous experience in mentoring, coaching, or working with youth is a plus, but not required.
- Commitment to Freedom City’s mission and values.
