Do employers in Johnson County have sufficient transportation options for their workforce? Limited mobility can prevent people from accessing job opportunities, creating roadblocks to economic stability.

The Community Transportation Committee aims to expand inclusive transportation services for Johnson County residents, including transportation to/from employment. In 2015, one-third of workers we surveyed had lost a job or missed out on a desired job due to lack of transportation access.

We are seeking volunteers to assist with surveying employers across Johnson County about their workforce's transportation needs and challenges. This research will help guide recommendations for improving public transit to better serve the county's employers and workers.


Survey Interviewer Duties

- Contact businesses to explain the survey and request participation
- Conduct surveys over phone/email with participating employers
- Compile and analyze survey responses
- Assist in developing reports and policy recommendations based on findings

This is an unpaid, part-time volunteer position with flexible hours. It offers valuable experience in community research, transportation policy, and advocacy campaigns.

Essential Skills - Preferred but not required

Strong written and verbal communication skills
Experience conducting surveys/interviews
Attention to detail and accuracy
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Passion for community advocacy and public policy
The key responsibilities involve contacting and surveying employers, compiling and analyzing data, and assisting in developing policy recommendations based on the research findings. Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills are essential for success in this role. Prior experience with surveys, data analysis, and transportation-related issues would be a definite asset as well.
