Coach needed for Girls on the Run at Westlake Elementary

What does it meant to be a GOTR coach?

  • Empower girls during their most formative years
  • Create a space of inclusion and belonging
  • Lead girls through evidence-based curriculum that boosts confidence
  • Receive season-long support and resources from Girls on the Run
  • Do not have to be runners OR athletes

Pre-season to-do's:

  • Coach Registration: gotrcentralcoast.org/coach
  • Background check and Livescan
  • Complete Self-paced online coach training by 9/7/24
  • Attend the Girls on the Run National Coach Training on Sept. 7th from 3:00-5:00 at Isla Vista Community Center in Santa Barbara

During the season:

  • Facilitate 75-90-minute practices twice a week over the course of 8-10 weeks (Monday and Thursday from 2:45-4:30 beginning Sept 9th)
  • Implement GOTR curriculum as intended (lesson book)
  • Foster a culture of inclusion and acceptance at practice
  • Work closely with co-coaches
  • Communicate with parents as needed
  • Attend Celebratory 5K on Nov. 16th at UCSB

Girls on the Run(r) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization designed to enhance participants' social, emotional and physical skills to successfully navigate life experiences. Our fun, interactive lessons meet the unique needs of participants of all abilities and backgrounds. Girls on the Run Central Coast is a council of Girls on the Run International, proudly serving Monterey, San Benito, San Luis Obispo, Santa Barbara and Ventura Counties.
