About Us: Own It Financial Education is a nonprofit organization based in Dallas/Fort Worth, Texas, dedicated to empowering families with the financial literacy, coaching, and resources they need to achieve financial stability and independence. Our mission is to provide accessible, high-quality financial education to help individuals and families build a stronger financial future.

Position Overview: We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Volunteer Grant Writer to join our team. In this role, you will play a critical part in securing funding to support our programs and initiatives. The Volunteer Grant Writer will be responsible for researching, writing, and submitting grant proposals to foundations, government agencies, and other funding sources.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research: Identify and research potential grant opportunities that align with the mission and goals of Own It Financial Education.
  • Proposal Writing: Develop and write compelling grant proposals, including narratives, budgets, and supporting documentation, that clearly articulate our mission, goals, and needs.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Executive Director and other team members to gather the necessary information and materials for grant submissions.
  • Grant Management: Maintain a calendar of grant deadlines, track proposal statuses, and ensure timely submission of all grant applications.
  • Reporting: Assist in the preparation of grant reports and updates for funders, ensuring compliance with all grant requirements.

Qualifications:

  • Experience: Previous experience in grant writing or fundraising is preferred, but not required. Strong writing and research skills are essential.
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex ideas clearly and persuasively.
  • Detail-Oriented: Strong attention to detail and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • Passion: A genuine interest in financial education and empowering families through nonprofit work.
  • Commitment: Ability to commit to a flexible, part-time volunteer schedule, with a minimum of 5 hours per week.

We offer a variety of financial literacy and business education courses through an online platform and sometimes worshops in the future. Once someone completes a course or recommended courses they become elgible to receive direct assistance through the coaching program and direct resource referrals to help them out while they are going through the coaching process. Our goal is to help 100s and eventually thousands of families become more financially stable and not reliant on government or social programs. We are just getting started and are looking for a variety of like minded individuals to help in our mission
