To celebrate National Public Lands Day, Homestead National Historical Park is hosting a volunteer event encouraging the public to give back to their lands! A BioBlitz will take place and there will be three guided discovery walks covering plants, birds, and bugs. A bioblitz is a citizen science effort where the public has an opportunity to collect as much data on species within a given time to help further studies on the biodiversity of a specific place. Data will be collected on iNaturalist.
BioBlitz Schedule:
8:00 AM: Bird BioBlitz
10:00 AM: Plant BioBlitz
12:30 PM: Bug BioBlitz
All ages are welcome, and the first 200 volunteers will receive a fee-free coupon to any of the participating public lands and will be valid for a year.
Bring a water bottle, as we have refillable water stations and wear comfortable clothes.
