About LIGHTS BACK ON INC

Location:

100 CASTOR DR APT N8, NORCROSS, GA 30071, US

Mission Statement

Our mission is to provide essential lighting solutions to individuals and families affected by natural disasters, poverty, or limited access to electricity.

Description

Lights Back On came about in 2013 when we brought our firstborn from the hospital. We stayed in a one-bedroom apartment but could not afford the energy bill. We went to stay with my mother-in-law for a while to get help but soon had to leave. Upon our arrival to Georgia on the bus, it was eleven degrees below zero. We had a portable heater to stay warm and a hotplate for various uses. We huddled up in one room with the heater to keep warm. If one of us had to use the restroom or went into the living room, we turned the heater in that direction. This went on for a year until we could afford our electricity bill. Lights Back On was established in 2019 and received a 501(c)(3) tax exemption in 2020. Basic human necessities are human rights. No one should have to choose between one or the other.

Our goals are to bring awareness to our brand, gain donors and supporters of our mission, and help low to mid-income communities become self-sufficient through our energy and water assistance, short-term housing, virtual food pantry, and school supplies program for student success. However, we have been unable to launch these programs due to financial constraints.
