Description: Experience the joy of Special Olympics as a volunteer with our sport program in Venango County! Our program is just starting to grow here, so we are looking for volunteers to help us build out some upcoming sports in the spring. With enough interested volunteers, we would like to start a basketball and a swim team in the county.

Mission Statement
The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.
Description
Athletes -- Over 16,000 children and adults with intellectual disabilities or closely related developmental disabilities participate in over 300 local, sectional and state events. Athletes range in age from 8 to 80 and are of all ability levels.
Volunteers -- Nearly 46,000 volunteers provided the manpower for Special Olympics Pennsylvania last year. Volunteers of all ages serve as coaches, escorts, organizers, fund-raisers, entertainers, or sports officials. There's a place for everyone in Special Olympics, and volunteers are always needed both on and off the playing field!
