Help SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve beautify our 120-acre forest and wetland bog by maintaining trails, removing invasive weeds, and planting and pruning native species. No previous experience or tools are required, but attendees should come prepared for moderate physical activity and removal of invasive plant species. We aim to provide a range of tasks. All you need is weather-proof clothing for working outside, a water bottle, and a smile. Please be aware that you may encounter muddy areas and plants with thorns. Mission Statement

SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve is a non-profit organization dedicated to ensuring the sustainability of Shadow Lake Bog and other unique habitats within Jenkins Creek Basin through environmental education, preservation, and restoration.

Description

SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve is dedicated to protecting wetland habitat in South King County through education, preservation, and restoration. To date, SHADOW has placed nearly 100 acres of wetland habitat under permanent protection, providing critical wildlife habitat and passage in a landscape rapidly losing its functioning wetlands and green spaces. The true gem of SHADOW Lake Nature Preserve is our very own SHADOW Lake Bog and half-mile boardwalk trail leading into the heart of it!
