2024 A Night to Remember Alzheimer's Fundraising Gala - Item Donation Team

Our annual fundraising gala, A Night to Remember, is coming up on Saturday, October 26th at the Courtyard by Marriott in Lafayette, IN. We are looking for volunteers to help us in gathering donations of items, gift cards, and services from local businesses for our raffle, restaurant pull and silent auction.

Your efforts will go directly towards supporting our goal of raising $50,000 this year to bring our 9 year total raised for Alzheimer's care and research to half a million dollars.

We live in such a generous community and local businesses and restaurants love to give, but we are an all-volunteer organization and we simply can't make it to every place in Greater Lafayette to ask. That is where you come in!

We will provide you printed copies of the donation request letter that has all the details of the event, where the money we raise goes, and the tax-exempt information businesses can use as we are a 501(c)3 non-profit. You can choose to go to the businesses at a time that works best for you and ask to speak to the manager to make the request. Most often, they will give you the gift card or donation right then, but sometimes they may ask you to come back to pick it up at a later time. If that is the case, with a range in availability among our other volunteers, someone can make sure they get it picked up if the proposed time doesn't work for you. Alternatively, these requests could also be made by phoning the business and speaking directly with the manager.

What is great about this opportunity is that it's very flexible! It is great for someone who only has an hour or two to commit but also works well if you have a broader availability. Also, you can decide what day of the week or time you visit the business. Our goal is to have all donations collected by October 1st.

It would be a great opportunity for a Purdue student who didn't have their own transportation, as there are SO many great stores and restaurants just on campus alone! Downtown Lafayette would be another area where someone could go and hit up LOTS of places by covering just a few blocks.

Also, this can be done alone or by a dou/group.

We have a list of area businesses and restaurants and we can work with you to determine the ones you want to be responsible for contacting.
