The Vet-to-Vet Program aims to pair recruited Veteran Volunteers with hospice patients who have been identified as Veterans. Once paired, Veteran Volunteers have the unique ability to relate and connect with each patient thereby creating an environment where life review and healing may occur

Volunteers can provide critical support, compassion and companionship to the Veterans. Many programs utilize volunteers who are Veterans themselves, and they create a special bond sharing their experiences in military service.

Along with typical volunteer roles, such as participation in pinning ceremonies and providing support for families, programs like No Veteran Dies Alone and Veteran-to-Veteran provide innovative models for serving Veterans at the end of life.

The "No Veteran Dies Alone" (NVDA) program is inspired by the program called "No One Dies Alone," and is designed to honor Veterans and to meet the needs of those Veterans who, for whatever reason, find themselves alone.
