DEPARTMENT: Organizational Transformation & Change
OBJECTIVE: The Health Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion (HEDI) Program Volunteer will support the Nuvance Health system HEDI (Health, Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion) program to promote workforce diversity, equity, and inclusion. This volunteer opportunity is ideal for a college or grad school student and offers a unique opportunity to contribute to meaningful HEDI projects and gain hands-on experience in a dynamic healthcare setting.
MAJOR TASKS: Program Support: Assist in developing and implementing HEDI initiatives and program. Support The VP of Organizational Transformation and Change Management and EDI with planning, coordinating, and executing equity, diversity, and inclusivity program.
Training and Development: Assist in the design and delivery of EDI training and educational materials for employees. Support the facilitation of workshops, seminars, and awareness campaigns on EDI topics.
Communication and Engagement: Contribute to internal communications related to HEDI Workforce projects, collaborate with the Employee Resource Groups to promote EDI events, the calendar, and the ERG sites on the employee intranet site.
Event Planning: Help support the organization of HEDI events such as diversity dialogues and cultural celebrations. Provide logistical support for EDI-related activities and initiatives.
Data Management: Help organize and analyze workforce diversity data. Based on reports and dashboards, prepare reports and presentations to track the progress and outcomes of EDI initiatives.
Evaluation and Feedback: Support the evaluation of EDI programs and initiatives. Gather employee feedback, analyze survey data, and provide insights for continuous improvement of EDI strategies.

QUALIFICATIONS:
- Currently enrolled in a college or university program, pursuing a degree in a related field (e.g., Public Health, Social Work, Healthcare Management, Diversity Studies). Graduate studies students and undregraduate students welcome.
- Strong interest in equity, diversity, and inclusion topics, particularly in the healthcare industry.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
- Research experience and data analysis skills are a plus.
- Ability to work independently, take initiative, and collaborate effectively in a team setting.
Must have knowledge of and adherence to hospital policies concerning confidentiality, in relation to patients, physicians, and other staff members.
Duration:
This part-time (2-3 days per week) one-year internship allows the intern to gain valuable experience and make a meaningful impact on EDI programs within the healthcare organization.
*Two interns would be ideal
TRAINING: On the job
Location: Student must have reliable transportation as the assignment may include travel b between hospitals in CT and NY State.
