Please note: this is a volunteer role for a San Francisco-based non-profit that provides an online guide to services in San Francisco for people experiencing homelessness, among other programs focused on the most vulnerable in our community. To continually optimize the effectiveness of our guide, we conduct user research, all done by volunteers on our Research Team. While the majority of the work can be done remotely, those local to San Francisco can also participate in in-person research work and also attend the occasional in-person meetings and social events held by ShelterTech.
About the role:
Looking to use your skills in user research to make a meaningful difference in the community?
The ShelterTech Research Team is seeking volunteer researchers to help advance our mission: to increase digital access to services among San Franciscans experiencing housing insecurity, reducing barriers for those in need by connecting them with human services and opportunities empowering them to live happier, healthier lives.
The research team plays an important role in grounding our nonprofit’s work in the community through user research and cross-functional collaboration. As a Research team member, you’ll help interview, ideate, and design and analyze findings to advocate the best interests of our users.
All are welcome to apply, regardless of experience level! Interested candidates can apply via this LinkedIn post, or in our Google Form here, or by sending an email to research@sheltertech.org to learn more.
Requirements
- Available Monday 5-6pm PST for a minimum of 4 months to attend research team meetings, all held virtually.
- Interest in user research.
- Comfortable working directly with people at-risk or experiencing homelessness or other individuals in the social services space.
