Lenox Hill Neighborhgood House is a 130-year-old settlement house widely recognized as one of New York's premier human services providers. Founded in 1894 as a free kindergarten for immigrant children, the Neighborhood House now serves 16,000 people in need each year through a wide array of effective and integrated services--social, educational, legal, health, housing mentla health, nutritional and fitness.

We are seeking volunteers to teach Beginner Level English as a Second Language classes for adults. Our English as a Second Language program provides high quality, interactive instruction to a diverse student body. We seek to increase students' language skills, confidence in speaking and comprehension of English. Volunteers are needed to teach two days per week, Tuesday and Thursday, 9:30am-12:00pm or 1:30pm-3:30pm, September 10 - November 14. Classes meet at 331 East 70th Street in Manhattan. Description

Lenox Hill Neighborhood House was founded in 1894 by the Alumnae Association of Normal College (now known as Hunter College of the City University of New York) as a free kindergarten for the children of indigent immigrants. Since then, we have remained at the forefront of community advocacy and social and educational change.
