Favoured Hospice is looking for a volunteer to provide companionship to one of our patient's located at an assisted living/memory care facility in Plymouth, MN. She is a spunky, energetic woman who loves socializing and having people over. She enjoys gardening, painting, animals - specifically dogs, birds, and squirrels, sports and activities, watching church services on tv, watching sports on tv, singing, fishing. She used to play tennis, bowling and softball, showed horses, was in a Catholic church choir, and was in a dance club. She is now more limited now that she mostly resides in a wheelchair, experiences dementia, and has some troubles forming sentences, but still loves to do activities with assistance! As a volunteer, you would be visiting her weekly or every other week and either assisting her in participating in the facility's activities and events, creating your own activity for her such as bird watching, painting/coloring, gardening, looking through old photos., watching church or sports on tv, etc, or simply just chatting. The schedule is flexible to when you are able to visit. We ask that the visit is about 30 minutes to an hour. This is a great opportunity for those interested in healthcare, looking to gain volunteer hours, or simply just want to show compassion, companionship, and friendship to a community deserving of it.
